A thief in his old age was unable to ply his "trade" and was
starving.

A wealthy man, hearing of his distress, sent him food.

Both the rich man and the thief died on the same day.

The trial of the magnate occurred to purgatory.

At the purgatory entrance, however, an angel came hurrying to
recall him He was brought back to the court and learned that his
sentence had been reversed.

The thief whom he had aided on the earth had stolen the list of
his iniquities.

도둑질을 일삼아온 사람이 늙어서 그 "업을" 제대로 할수 없어 굶어죽을
지경에 이르렀다.

이 딱한 처지를 알게 된 어떤 부자가 그 늙은이에 먹을 것을 보내줬다.

부자와 도둑은 같은날 이 세상에 떠났다. 하늘하라 재판소에서 먼저
심판을 받은것은 부자. 그에게는 연옥행이 언도되었다.

그런데 연옥입구에 이르렀을때 천사가 급히 달려와서 그를 불러갔다.
다시 재판소에 가보니 판결이 번복된것이 아닌가.

이승에서 그가 도와줬던 도둑이 그의 죄상이 기록된 서류를 훔쳐낸
것이다.
