[해외유머] '장님할머니'

While waiting for a bus, the blind old lady folded her collapsible
came and put it in her purse.

A little girl came up and asked, "Would you please help me cross
the street? I''m afraid of the cars."

She did not want to frighten the girl by saying she was blind.

"Sure," she replied.

Take my hand, and let''s walk to the curb where the big white lines
are painted across the street."

The little girl obeyed.

At the curb the old lady instructed, "Now look carefully both ways.

When you see that no cars are coming, tell me."

Safely on the other side, she thanked the woman and skipped happily
away.

The old lady waited until the sound of her departing steps faded
befoer taking out her came to make the return crossing.

버스를 기다리면서 장님할머니는 지팡이를 접어서 핸드백에 넣었다.

어린 여자아이가 다가오더니 "차가 무서워서 그러는데 함께 길을 건너가
주실래요?"하고 물었다.

장님이라는 사실을 알려 아이가 겁먹게 해서는 안되겠다 싶어 할머니는
"그러자꾸나. 내손을 잡고 큰 흰줄이 가로질러진데까지 가자"고 했다.

계집애는 시키는대로 했다.

거기에 이르자 할머니는 "이제 양쪽을 잘 살펴보고 차가 하나도
안보이면 나에게 알려라"라고 했다.

무사히 건너가자 그 아이는 고맙다고 하고는 신이 나서 깡충깡충
뛰어갔다.

그 깡충 소리가 사라질때까지 기다렸다가 할머니는 지팡이를 꺼내
가지고 다시 길을 건너왔다.
