The buxom country girl had gone to town to do some shopping and, on
her way home after dark, encountered a young man of the neighboring farm
returning from the market.

The two had walked together for a while, when the girl said shyly,
"I''m a bit afraid to be alone with you like this-you might try to take
advantage of me."

"Take advantage of you?" the handsome boy said.

"Here I am, carrying a pitchfork and a chicken in one hand, a washtub
in the other and leading a goat. I could hardly take advantage of you."

"Well," she continued, "you could stick the pitchfork in the ground,
tie the goat to it and put the chicken under the washtub, couldn''t you?"

토실토실해서 예쁜 시골처녀가 읍에 나가 장을 보고 어둑해서 집으로 돌아
가다가 역시 장을 보고 돌아가는 동네 청년을 만났다.

두 사람은 한참 함께 걷다가 아가씨는 수줍어하면서 입을 열었다.

"이렇게 단 둘이니까 좀 두려운 생각이 드네요. 혹 나를 어떻게 하려들지나
않을까 싶어서 말이에요"

"당신을 어떻게 할거라구요? 난 한 손에는 쇠스랑과 병아리를, 또 한손에는
빨래통과 염소 줄을 잡고 있어요. 이래 가지고 뭘 어떻게 한다는 겁니까?"

미남청년이 말했다.

"있잖아요, 쇠스랑을 땅에 꽂아놓고 염소를 거기다가 묶어놓은 다음 병아리
는 빨래통 안에 넣어 둘 수 있잖아요?"

아가씨가 말했다.
