[해외유머] '라흐마니노프'

Rachmaninoff waged a oneman war against music watchers-those who sit
in the audience with the score in their hands, following it to be sure
the performer is faithful to the score.

Once when he was playing his famous Prelude in C-sharp Minor,
Rachmaninoff noticed a man in the hall reading the score.

Just before the end of the Prelude, the Pianist began to improvise a
cadenza, and out of the corner of his eye enjoyed watching the man
frantically turning the pages of his score to find what Rachmnaninoff
was playing.

음악회에 악보를 들고와서는 악보대로 충실하게 연주하고 있는가를 지켜보는
사람들을 상대로 라흐마니노프는 단독투쟁을 했다.

어느날 자신의 유명한 C샤프 마이너 전주곡을 연주하던 라흐마니노프는
청중속에서 그 곡의 악보를 들여다보고 있는 사람을 발견했다.

그 곡의 연주를 끝내기 직전 그는 즉흥적으로 카덴차를 연주하면서 그
사람이 정신없이 악보를 뒤지고 있는 모습을 곁눈질하며 통쾌해 했다.
