On his way to work, a man noticed a new Cadilac bearing the word UP on its bumper in front of him.

Several days later, he noticed the same man now behind the wheel of a beat-up Volkswagen bearing the word DOWN.

That evening he told a neighbor about the driver.

The neighbor said that must be Jack, who lived three blocks away.

"He''s a stockbroker," the neighbor said, "You always know how the stock closed yesterday by the car Jack''s driving today."

그날 저녁 그는 동네 사람에게 그 운전자에 관해 이야기했다.

필시 세 블록 떨어진 곳에 살고 있는 잭일거라는 이야기였다.

"증권회사에 다니는 사람인데 오늘 그가 몰고나온 차를 보기만 하면 전날 마감장 시세를 알 수 있어요"
