A clergyman was pestered by education office to report the dimensions of his village schoolroom annually.

In the first and second years, the duly filled in the required figures.

The third year, he replied that the schoolroom was still the same size.

The education office badgered him with reminders until he filled in the figures.

This time he doubled the dimensions of his schoolroom.

Nobody queried it.

So he went on doubling the measurements until it became a great deal larger than St. Paul''s Cathedral.

But nobody at the education office was at all concerned.

그랬더니 당국은 수치를 명시하라고 재촉을 해대는 것이었다.

이번에는 학교 크기를 배로 늘렸다.

거기에 대해 따지는 사람은 없었다.

그런식으로 해마다 키웠더니 그 학교는 베드로성당보다도 훨씬 큰 것이 되어버렸다.

그러나 당국에서는 그 사실에 전혀 관심을 보이지 않았다.
