Many years ago Portugal decided to build impregnable line of defense along her frontier. Huge guns were placed in concrete emplacements. But when the general staff inspected the new fortifications, the experts quickly spotted the fallacy of the otherwise magnificent defense system: all the guns were pointed toward Portugal and could not be turned around.
