A small tourist hotel was all abuzz about an afternoon wedding where the groom was 95 and the bride was 23. The groom looked pretty feeble and the people were afraid that his wedding with the vivacious young woman might kill him.

But, the next morning, the bride came down the stairs slowly, hanging onto the banister. She finally managed to get to the counter of the little shop in the hotel. The clerk was really concerned and asked, "What happened to you?" "Oh my God!" groaned the bride. "He told me he'd been saving up for 75 years. I thought he meant his money!"

그날 오후 95세의 노인과 23세의 신부가 결혼식을 올린 그 작은 관광호텔에서 사람들은 온통 그 이야기로 웅성거렸다.

신랑은 아주 허약해 보였으므로 생기가 넘치는 그 젊은 여자와의 결혼이 죽음을 부르게 되는 것이 아닐까 사람들은 걱정이었다.

그런데 이튿날 아침 신부는 계단 난간을 붙잡고 천천히 내려오는 것이었다.

그녀가 마침내 호텔의 작은 구내매점 카운터에 이르자 점원은 사뭇 안쓰러워 하면서 물었다.

"무슨 일이 있었는데요?" "세상에,75년 동안 저축해 왔다기에 난 돈을 모아온 줄만 알았지 뭐예요!" 여자는 신음하듯 말했다.
