Two neighbors, riding home from work on the bus, were discussing the high cost of home repairs. "In recent weeks alone," one explained, "the TV man made two calls, a carpenter came to fix a leaky roof, an electrician was in to replace faulty wiring--and they all charged exorbitant fees. Any more calamities will wreck the budget!" They got off and were headed for their respective homes when one of them froze--there was a plumber's van in his driveway. "요 몇 주 사이에만도 TV수리하는 사람이 두 번 다녀갔고, 목수가 와서 지붕 새는 데를 손봐줬고 전 기 일하는 사람이 와서 전선 잘못된 부분을 갈아주고 갔어요--그 사람들이 하나같이 터무니없이 많은 돈을 달라지 뭡니까. 이러다간 가계가 결딴날 팝니다!" 두 사람은 버스를 내려 각기 제 집으로 향했는데 그때 한 사람이 섬뜩해지면서 발걸음을 멈췄다. 그의 집 앞에 보일러공 차가 와있는 것이다. "제발 오늘만은 우리 마누라가 바람을 피우고있는 거면 좋을 텐데"라고 그는 말하는 것이었다.
