During the wedding rehearsal,the groom approached the vicar.


"I'll give you $100 if you'll change the wedding vow.


I'd appreciate it if you'd just leave that part where I have to promise to 'love, obey and be faithful to her forever."


He passed the clergyman the cash and walked away.


On the wedding day, the vicar looks at the young man and says, "Will you promise to obey her every command and swear eternally before God that you will not ever even look at another woman?"


The groom gulped and said in a tiny voice, "Yes."


He then leaned toward the vicar and hissed, "I thought we had a deal."


The vicar put the $100 into his hand and whispered back, "She made me much better offer."



결혼식 예행연습을 하던 신랑은 목사에게 다가갔다.


"100달러를 드릴 테니 결혼서약을 바꿔주세요.


'사랑하며 복종하며 영원토록 충실하겠다'는 대목을 빼주시면 고맙겠습니다."


그는 목사에게 백달러를 건네주고 물러섰다.


결혼식 당일, 목사는 청년을 바라보면서 "신랑은 신부의 모든 명령에 순종할 것을 약속하며 다른 여자는 아예 거들떠 보지도 않겠다는 것을 하나님 앞에 서약합니까？"하고 물었다.


신랑은 숨을 죽이고 가냘픈 소리로 "네"라고 대답했다.


다음 순간 그는 목사 쪽으로 몸을 기웃하더니 "이러지 않기로 이야기가 된 줄 알았는데요"라고 속삭이듯 말했다.


목사는 백달러를 되돌려주면서 "신부로부터 훨씬 후한 오퍼를 받았어요"라고 소곤거리는 것이었다.
