The freeway was at a dead stop．

Traffic had not moved for ten minutes, and there was no way to tell how long the tie-up would last．

In the car next to mine, a man was talking excitedly on his cell phone．

Suddenly he leaned across the front seat, rolled down the passenger window, thrust the phone at me and shouted, "Here--will you please tell my wife why I’m late!"


고속도로에서 교통이 딱 멈춰버렸다．

10분 동안을 꼼짝 않고 있었는데 그 정체상태가 얼마나 갈지 전혀 알 길이 없었다．

옆 차에서는 한 남자가 휴대전화에 대고 핏대를 올리고 있었다．

별안간 그는 오른 쪽으로 몸을 기웃해서 옆 좌석의 창문을 내리고는 전화기를 나에게 불쑥 내밀면서 소리 지르는 것이었다．

"여기요--내가 왜 늦는지를 우리 마누라한테 이야기 좀 해줘요!"
