t began to pour as two of the candidates for gubernatorial nomination arrived at an iron works to talk to workers as they came through the gates. Both candidates stuck to their posts,getting soaking wet as they passed out campaign leaflets and shook hands. They were obviously hoping impress the workers with their dedication and perseverance,but one man walked past them， shaking his head. "I wouldn't vote for anybody," he said,"who doesn't know enough to come in out of the rain."


주지사로 공천을 받으려는 두 후보가 정문을 통과하는 노동자들을 상대로 유세하기 위해 한 제철소에 도착했을 때 비가 억수로 쏟아지기 시작했다.

두 사람은 흠뻑 젖으면서 제자리에 서서 선거운동 인쇄물을 건네주면서 악수를 했다.

그들은 분명 헌신하는 자세와 인내력을 과시해서 노동자들을 감동시킬 셈이었다.

그런데 거기를 통과하던 한 사람은 고개를 설레설레 흔들었다.

"비를 피할 줄도 모르는 사람에게 찍어줄 수야 없잖아"라고 그는 말했다.
