A friend of mine at Ivy League college constantly complains about the girls there．

They are either "too silly, too frivolous, too dumb, to argumentative."

One day he announced that he had found the one, the only, perfect woman in the world．

When he broke the news, however, he lacked the joy that should accompany the culmination of such a long search．

"What wrong?"I asked．

"You found the perfect woman, didn’t you?"

"Yes,"he admitted,"but she is looking for the perfect man."


미국 명문대학에 다니는 친구가 그곳 여학생들에 대해 부단히 불평을 늘어놓았다．

하나같이 "너무도 어리석거나 너무도 시시하거나 너무도 멍청하거나 너무도 말이 많거나 하다"는 것이었다．

그러던 그가 어느 날 세상에서 유일하게 완벽한 여자 하나를 발견했노라고 했다．

그런데 그토록 오래 동안 찾던 것을 마침내 찾았다는 중대한 사실을 알리게 되었으니 마땅히 기뻐야 할 법도 한데 도무지 그런 기색이 없었다．

"뭐가 못마땅한 거야, 완전한 여자를 찾아냈다면서?"하고 내가 물었다．

"완전한 여자를 찾아내기는 했는데 그 여자가 찾고 있는 게 완전한 남자지 뭐야."
