In recent months, I've been plagued with telephone calls from eager sales-people wishing to sell me various stocks or bonds.

Trying to avoid being rude， but hoping they'll get my gentle hint， I tell them I have a son in the securities business.

Undaunted， my last caller replied， "What a coincidence， so does my dad."


근자에 나를 괴롭히고 있는 건 각종 주식이나 채권을 팔려고 전화를 걸어오는 극성 세일즈맨들이다. 무례하지 않게 거절하면서 점잖게 힌트를 주기 위해 난 아들이 증권 일을 하고 있다고 말한다.

그런데 지난번 전화를 걸어온 사람은 그런 소리에도 기가 꺾이지 않고 "참 공교롭군요，저희 아버지도 그런 처지랍니다"라고 하는 것이었다.
