During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.
"Well," said the director,"we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."
"Oh, I understand," said the visitor.
"A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."
"No," said the director.
"A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"
정신병원 방문객이 원장에게 환자를 입원시킬 것인가를 결정할 때 기준이 되는 게 뭐냐고 물었다.
"우리는 말입니다,욕조에 물을 채워놓고 환자에게 차숟가락과 찻잔,그리고 양동이를 건네주면서 욕조의 물을 빼라고 합니다. "
원장이 이렇게 말하자 방문객이 대답했다.
"아，알겠습니다. 정상적인 사람이라면 스푼이나 컵보다 큰 양동이를 사용하겠군요. "
"아닙니다. 정상적인 사람이라면 플러그를 뽑죠.창가에 자리를 마련해 드릴까요?"
