The judge says to a double－homicide defendant, "You're charged with beating your wife to death with a hammer."

A voice at the back of the courtroom yells out, "You bastard！" The judge says， "You're also charged with beating your mother－in－law to death with a hammer."

The voice in the back of the courtroom yells out again， "You bastard！" The judge stops and says to the guy in the back of the courtroom， "Sir， I can understand your anger at this crime. But no more outburst from you， or I'll charge you with contempt. Is that understood？"

The guy stands up and says， "I'm sorry， Your Honor， but for fifteen years， I've lived next door to that bastard， and every time I asked to borrow a hammer， he said he didn't have one."



이중 살인을 한 피고를 보고 판사가 말했다. "피고는 아내를 망치로 때려죽인 것으로 기소됐습니다. " 그 소리를 듣자 법정 뒤쪽에서 누군가가 소리쳤다.

"이런 나쁜 놈！" "피고는 또 장모도 망치로 때려죽인 것으로 기소됐습니다. " 판사의 말이 계속됐다. 법정 뒤쪽 사람이 다시금 소리쳤다. "이런 나쁜 놈！"

판사는 재판을 중단하고 소리를 질러대는 그 사내에게 말했다. "그렇게 격분하는 건 이해가 갑니다. 하지만 더 이상 소리를 지르지는 말아요. 다시 그러면 법정모욕으로 입건하겠습니다. 아시겠어요？"

뒤쪽의 그 남자는 자리에서 일어섰다.

"죄송합니다 판사님. 실은 전 15년간 저 나쁜 놈과 이웃에서 살아왔는데 망치를 빌려달라고 할 적마다 없다지 뭡니까. "
