In line for the tollbooth， the man found himself behind a car whose driver was in earnest conversation with the tolltaker. The woman reached out her car window and handed over her wallet.

The tolltaker removed two bills and returned the wallet.

Next， she handed him her change purse， from which he extracted coins. Then he returned the purse.

The driver was alone in the car. Presumably she had the use of her hands and wasn't blind.

The man was puzzled. "I saw it，but I don't believe it，" he said the tolltaker. The tolltaker explained， "She just had her nails done."


통행료를 징수하는 곳에 이른 사람이 보니 앞차의 운전자가 요금징수원하고 뭔가를 열심히 이야기하고 있었다. 그러더니 여자는 창밖으로 손을 내밀어 지갑을 징수원에게 건네주는 것이었다.

징수원은 지폐 두 장을 꺼낸 다음 지갑을 돌려줬다.

다음으로 여자는 동전지갑을 건네줬고 징수원은 동전을 꺼내고 나서 그것을 돌려줬다.

여자는 혼자였다. 보아하니 여자는 손을 제대로 놀리는 것 같고 장님은 아니었다.

뒤차 운전자는 통 종잡을 수 없었다. "내 눈으로 봤는데도 믿어지지가 않네요"라고 그는 징수원에게 말했다. "방금 매니큐어를 했다지 뭡니까"라고 징수원은 대답하는 것이었다.
