An accountant answered an advertisement for a top job with a large firm. At the end of the interview， the chairman said， "One last question-what is three times seven?"
The accountant thought for a moment and replied， "Twenty-two."
Outside he checked himself on his calculator and concluded he had lost the job. But two weeks later he was offered the post. He asked the chairman why he had been appointed when he had given the wrong answer.
"You were the closest，" the chairman replied.
큰 회사에서 높은 자리에 앉힐 사람을 구하는 광고를 내자 그걸 보고 한 회계사가 응모했다. 면접을 끝내면서 회장이 말했다. "끝으로 한 가지만 더 물어봅시다. 3 곱하기 7은 뭡니까?"
계리사는 잠시 생각하더니 "22입니다"라고 대답했다.
밖으로 나와 계산기로 자신의 답을 확인해 본 그는 글렀다고 결론을 내렸다. 그런데 2주 후 그 자리를 맡아달라고 연락이 온 것이 아닌가. 그는 회장에게 어째서 제대로 대답하지도 못한 사람을 쓰려는 거냐고 물었다.
"당신의 답이 정답과 가장 가까운 것이었어요. " 회장의 대답이었다.
