Two elderly women were out driving in a large car， both could barely see over the dashboard. They came to an intersection where the light was red but they just went through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself， "I swear we just went through a red light." After a few more minutes they came to another intersection and the light was red again， and again they went right through. This time the woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red. She was getting nervous and decided to pay close attention to the road. At the next intersection， sure enough， the light was definitely red and they went through. She turned to the woman driving and yelled， "Helen！ Did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row！ You could have killed us！" Helen turned to her and said， "Oh， am I driving？"



할머니 두 분이 큰 차를 몰고 거리로 나왔는데 시력이 떨어져 전방을 제대로 볼 수 없었다. 교차로에 이르자 정지신호에 걸렸는데도 그대로 통과했다. 옆 좌석의 할머니는 틀림없이 정지신호를 그대로 통과했다는 생각이 들었다. 잠시 후 다시 교차로에 왔는데 이번에도 정지신호에 걸렸는데 그대로 통과했다. 옆 좌석의 할머니는 신경이 곤두서서 신호를 잘 살피기로 마음먹었다. 그런데 다음 교차로에서 분명히 빨간 신호가 보이는데도 그대로 통과한 것이다. 그래서 운전하는 할머니에게 소리쳤다. "헬렌! 정지신호를 세 번씩이나 어긴 것 알아! 이러다간 우리가 죽게 생겼단 말야!" 운전대의 할머니는 고개를 돌리면서 말했다. "아니， 내가 지금 운전하고 있단 말이야?"
