A woman opened the door of a building and was about to step outside when she heard a voice say， "Don't take another step or you'll regret it." She paused and a brick came crashing to the pavement. She looked around and there was no one nearby. The next day the woman was about to step into the street when she heard this same voice say， "Don't take that next step or you'll regret it." As she paused a truck came racing by and crashed into a nearby vehicle. She knew if she hadn't listened to that voice she would have been hurt badly， or maybe even killed. She looked behind her and there was no one nearby. "Oh， come on" she said， "Who are you？" "I'm your guardian angel" the voice replied. "Oh， if that's the case， where were you on my wedding day？"


여자가 건물 문을 열고 나서려는데 말소리가 들렸다. "한 걸음만 더 나가면 후회하게 된다. " 멈춰 섰더니 벽돌 하나가 바로 앞 보도에 떨어지는 것이 아닌가. 사방을 살폈지만 아무도 없었다. 이튿날 거리로 나서려는데 같은 말소리가 또 들렸다. "한 걸음만 더 나가면 후회하게 된다. " 그 자리에 서 있는데 트럭이 질주해 오더니 인근 차량과 충돌했다. 그 소리를 듣지 않았다면 크게 다쳤거나 죽었겠구나 싶었다. 뒤를 돌아봤지만 아무도 없었다. "당신은 누구죠？" "너의 수호천사다. " "아니 그게 사실이라면 내가 결혼할 땐 어디 있었던 거죠？"
