A Swiss guy, looking for directions, pulled up at a bus stop where two Englishmen were waiting.
"Entschuldigung Sie Bitte, koennen Sie Deutch sprechen?" he said.The two men just stared at him.
"Excusez-moi, parlez vous Francais?"
The two continued to stare."Parlare Italiano?"
No response.
"Hablan ustedes Espanol?"Still nothing.
The guy drove off.
The first Englishman said, "Maybe we should learn a foreign language...""Why?" said the other.
"That man knew four language, and that didn''t do him any good!"

길을 물으려는 스위스인이 두 영국인이 서있는 버스정류장에 차를 대고 물었다.
"(독일어로)죄송합니다만 독일어 하세요?"
두 사람은 멍하니 그를 바라보기만 했다.
"(프랑스어로)실례합니다, 불어 하세요?"
두 사람은 여전히 바라보기만 했다.
"(이탈리아어로)이탈리아어 하세요?"
반응이 없었다.
"(스페인어로)스페인어 해요?"
여전히 반응이 없었다.
그 사람이 가버리자 영국인 하나가 말했다."우리도 외국어 하나쯤 배워둬야 하는게 아닐까..."
"뭣 때문에? 저 사람은 4개국어나 하는데도 아무 소용이 없잖아"
