An American farmer had seventeen children, all boys.


When they came of age, they voted uniformly for the Republican candidates--all except one boy.

The father was asked to explain this.


"Well, " he said," I've always tried to bring them boys up right in the fear of the Lord and Republicans, but John, the cuss, got to reading!"

미국의 한 농부에게는 아들만 열일곱이 있었다.


그들은 어른이 되면서 한결같이 공화당에 투표했는데 유독 하나만은 예외였다.


이 점에 대해 누군가가 아버지에게 영문을 물었다.

"있잖아요, 난 항상 주님과 공화당을 경외하도록 자식들을 바르게 키우려고 애써왔어요.


그런데 이 존이란 놈은 글을 읽게 됐지 뭡니까!"
