When Helmut Kohl was West German chancellor, he was a good butt of jokes presenting him as a moron．
Asked about the several books that had already been published making of him, the 55-year-old political leader said, "Some of them are so funny I can’t help laughing myself."Here is a typical one : Kohl visited a black African country and asked a student what he was learning．
"French, German and algebra," replied the student．
"Tell me then," asked Kohl, "how do you say chancellor in Algebra?"
서독수상이었던 헬무트 콜은 멍청한 사람으로 풍자되기 일쑤였다．
그를 빈정대는 조크 책이 여러 권 나왔을 때 거기 대해 질문을 받자 55세의 이 정치지도자는 "어떤 것들은 어찌나 웃기는지 나도 저절로 웃음이 터져나와요"라고 대답했다．전형적인 콜 조크 한 토막을 소개한다．
아프리카의 어느 흑인국가를 방문한 콜이 학생을 보고 뭘 배우고 있느냐고 물었다．
"프랑스어 독일어 대수를 배우고 있습니다"라고 학생은 대답했다．"그럼 대수어(語)로는 수상을 뭐라고 하지?"하고 콜은 묻는 것이었다．
