S-OIL (CEO Anwar A. Al-Hejazi) held the Company’s charity event ‘Sharing Songpyeon (traditional Korean half-moon-shaped rice cake) with S-OIL’ for the upcoming Chuseok holiday on September 12th, at its head office in Mapo-gu, along with Mapo Community Welfare Center of Loveaid Foundation. On that day, the CEO and some 150 employees prepared 500 Chuseok gift packages worth a combined 60 million won and delivered them in person to low-income households recommended by Gongdeok-dong and Donhwa-dong community service centers near to the head office building. This charity event was also joined by Saudi Arabian students studying in Korea and children from the Company’s daycare center who had a meaningful time with neighbors serving as volunteers.

“To my knowledge, Chuseok is a meaningful holiday to Koreans when people celebrate the autumn harvest and share food with neighbors,” said CEO Al-Hejazi. “I hope that S-OIL’s small gifts bring warmth and courage to local neighbors in need” he added.

S-OIL has been sharing Songpyeon as a charity event on every Chuseok since 2007, supporting the underprivileged to enjoy a warmhearted holiday.
